Charged EVs | BAE Systems to integrate Eaton’s HD 4-speed EV transmission into heavy-duty electric drive

UK-based protection and aerospace agency BAE Systems and US-based energy administration firm Eaton are increasing their collaboration to incorporate EV programs for heavy-duty vehicles.

The businesses will provide OEMs and business automobile modifiers a versatile EV system for a spread of platforms. BAE Programs will mix its electrical motor and suite of energy electronics with Eaton’s HD 4-speed EV transmission to offer a full heavy-duty EV system. Together with the present MD-4 platform, the built-in programs are designed for medium- and heavy-duty functions, together with pick-up and supply vehicles, faculty and transit buses, and materials dealing with, refuse and regional haul vehicles.

In 2023, the 2 corporations signed an agreement to offer electrical drive expertise for the medium-duty truck market. The expanded collaboration now consists of heavy-duty functions, providing producers a whole line of electrical drive programs for business vehicles above 19 tons.
