Dutch battery producer EST-Floattech has provided its Octopus Sequence battery system to German ferry operator SFK for its ferry Laboe, which was lately delivered to SFK by Holland Shipyards Group.
The Laboe will transport commuters across the metropolis of Kiel. It’s able to switching between use of mills and EST-Floattech’s 560 kWh Octopus Excessive Power battery system. The system was built-in by Holland Ship Electrical, which has collaborated with EST-Floattech on ferries for SFK.

This technique makes use of batteries with excessive power density to help optimum ferry efficiency and lengthy operational life.
Malte Klein of SFK stated, “We had been impressed by the overhauled design and HMI options of the system—easy integration into the ships’ networks and higher connectivity to the PMS. Furthermore, the brand new system comes with a better security customary. The system is able to dealing with completely different battery sorts so it’s future-proof.”
